Our immigration system is an important part of making Canada a better place to live, raise your family and increase jobs. But we also understand those living in Canada want loved ones from around the world to visit them here. This is why our immigration system is built to assist with those unpredictable situations when loved ones need each other. Examples include, a death in the family, a loved one is ill or other unforeseeable situations. Immigration Refugees Citizenship Canada has mechanisms in place to assist in providing visas for people that are trying to get to Canada for an emergency or urgent reason.
Below is a general list of scenarios that IRCC deems as cases that can be processed urgently:
It is important to remember, that we cannot guarantee processing by a specific time as CIC needs to verify the case does qualify as an urgent matter and process the application itself. We ask if possible to always apply as early as possible or to visit our office to get immediate attention on your urgent case.
Lastly, there are many cases that are not deemed as urgent cases. Many events that are taking place in Canada are scheduled in advance, such as weddings or graduation ceremonies. We recommend to apply as early as possible to avoid any delays as CIC will NOT urgently process applications from the below list:
